Electric Kettle Buying guide

Every electrical appliance needs to be inspected based on various parameters before buying. And an electric kettle is no exception! So, we are listing down all the necessary parameters you need to check while buying an electric kettle.

Consider Capacity for Water Storage:-

Apart from the wattage, electric kettles vary in terms of capacity. Typically, there are electric kettles starting from 500 ml to 2 liters. With one liter of electric kettle, you can make three large cups of tea or coffee considering the cups of are of capacity 250 ml. Therefore, according to your family size and requirements, you should buy accordingly. For a small family, 1 liter is enough while a large family needs 1.5-2 liters electric kettle.
It is important to remember that you have to leave at least 20% space empty for boiling and brewing so that water or beverage does not spill out. So, with a one-liter electric kettle, you can boil 750 to 800 ml water, and with 2 liters, you can boil 1.6-1.7 liters of water.

Consider Speed of Boiling for Quick Use:-

One of the main reasons for using an electric kettle is to make water boil faster. Therefore, while buying, you need to get an idea as to how fast the electric kettle can boil water. The speed of boiling depends solely on the wattage. The higher the wattage of the electric kettle, the faster will be the boiling. A typical electric kettle of 1500 wattage will make one liter of water boil in less than five minutes. At the same time, the less is the volume of water, the faster will be the boiling speed.

Material Construction for Better Longevity:-

An electric kettle can be made up of metal like stainless steel, or glass, and even a combination of metal, glass, and plastic. The plastic-based electric kettles must be avoided unless you have a very low budget. The only thing good about plastic electric kettles is that the exterior does not get heated up as much as the other two.
The glass electric kettles look great, but they need to be handled carefully as they are quite fragile. Besides, they are heavier than metal and of course, plastic ones. Therefore, it is better to opt for metal electric kettles, and most of the buyers prefer the same. They are highly durable, especially the stainless steel ones. They also add to the aesthetic part with the polished mirror surface. On the contrary, the exterior surface does get heated up, and therefore, they have plastic handles for easy operation.
